# MAP Audio

> MAP Audio builds music software for producers and sound designers: PAM, an eight-cell sampler and drum synth; MFX, a modular multi-effects router; and Rhino 3, a hybrid FM synthesizer made with Big Tick Audio. The studio also develops audio plugins and DSP for other companies.

## Products

### PAM

PAM is a pattern-based sampler and drum-synth instrument. It has 8 independent cells, each with a sampler or synthesized drum voice, 33 built-in effects, and its own sequencer. A modulation matrix connects LFOs, envelope followers, macros, Vary, and parameter sequencers to sound and effect controls. Patterns can be edited per cell, in a polyphonic piano roll, or across all eight cells in the tracker. PAM also has an 8-track looper.

### MFX

MFX is a modular multi-effects router with four cable-connected cells. Each cell has 33 built-in effects. Cables can form serial, parallel, dry/wet and feedback paths, with a level on every connection. MFX also has three Combo knobs, six global LFOs, a follower and ParamSeq in every cell, and a stereo sidechain input.

### Rhino 3

Rhino 3 is a hybrid FM synthesizer with six oscillators per voice, additive and wavetable sources, two multimode filters and four effect slots. It is in early access.

The MAP Audio public REST API is read-only and requires no authentication.

Customer accounts, purchases, license activation, entitled downloads, and administration are not part of the public API. An agent acting for a customer who asks it to look up their licenses or downloads signs in with an emailed code, as described in [auth.md](https://map.audio/auth.md).

## MCP

Use `@map-audio/pam-mcp-server` to control a running PAM instance. Use `@map-audio/mfx-mcp-server` to control MFX. Both are local stdio bridges and require the plugin to be running on the user's computer; map.audio does not host a remote plugin-control endpoint.

The separate [hosted audio workspace](https://audio.map.audio) is a testing preview for MCP Apps clients. Its Streamable HTTP endpoint is `https://audio.map.audio/mcp`. It plays and displays recordings with a waveform, spectrogram, region looping and annotations. It does not generate audio or control desktop plugins. Imports are limited to 32 MiB, expire for access after one hour, and can be read by anyone with their audio ID or download link while active.
